Who is the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council?
The Motorcycle and Moped Industry Council (MMIC) is a national, non-profit trade association that represents the manufacturers and distributors of street legal motorcycles and related products and services in Canada.

Tier I & Tier II Membership:

Tier I membership in the association is limited to those organizations engaged in the business of manufacturing and/or distributing whole motorcycles, mopeds or scooters in Canada.

Tier II membership in the association is limited to those organizations engaged in the business of manufacturing and/or distributing whole motorcycles, mopeds or scooters in Canada.

Corporate Affiliate Membership:
Manufacturers and Distributors of Motorcycle-Related Aftermarket Products and Services.
Tier I Members:

Tier I membership in the association is limited to those organizations engaged in the business of manufacturing and/or distributing whole motorcycles, mopeds or scooters in Canada. The Board of Directors of the MMIC may, by resolution, admit as a new member any organization fulfilling the necessary criteria, having received a written request for membership.

Tier I members have certain rights and privileges as outlined herein and are entitled to a full range of benefits and services offered by the MMIC, including:

  • One voting member on each committee of the MMIC.

  • Monthly wholesale and retail motorcycle/scooter sales statistics, by company, model, cc size, and category, nationally and by province, city and postal code. (participation is mandatory)

  • Tier I member volume show space rates at MMIC Showcase Shows in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal, Moncton and Quebec.

  • Participation in strategic planning and priority determination for MMIC
    Annual Motorcycle and ATV Industry Statistics Report

  • Annual Dealer Survey Statistics Report

  • Monthly or more regular updates on federal and provincial regulatory requirements.

  • Monthly or more regular updates on operator requirements for street legal motorcycles in each province and territory.

  • No-charge in-house guidance and educational sessions on compliance issues.

  • Federal and provincial legislative submissions on issues that effect the motorcycle industry.

The fee structure for Tier I Members in the MMIC is based on three criteria - an annual dues of 4,000.00 dollars, a per unit amount which is currently $1.00 per unit sold at wholesale, and a wholesale dollar amount based on each company’s percentage of total wholesale dollar sales of all member companies’ wholesale dollar sales. Member company fees are reviewed and approved each year by the Board of Directors during the budget process. The fiscal year of the MMIC is from January 1st to December 31st. As well, there is a 5.25 dollar per unit fee on street legal motorcycles and scooters to financially support the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canada.

The main operating committee of the MMIC is the Executive Committee. It meets approximately four times each year. The Executive Committee reports to the Board of Directors, which meets at least once each year. The Technical Standards and Compliance Committee, the Policy and Government Relations Committee, the Show Committee, and the Communications Committee, meet approximately three to four times per year depending on the urgency and importance of the subjects being discussed.

Tier II Members

Tier II membership in the association is limited to those organizations engaged in the business of manufacturing and/or distributing whole motorcycles, mopeds or scooters in Canada. The Board of Directors of the MMIC may, by resolution, admit as a new member any organization fulfilling the necessary criteria, having received a written request for membership.

Tier II members have certain privileges as outlined herein and are entitled to a range of services for the specified fee as offered by the MMIC, including:

The Tier II Member basic fee is $600 per year that includes:

  • Full access to the Importer Assistance Program: Communication with MMIC staff on import related subjects and access to selected consultants, educational sessions and services outlined below for Tier II members only.

Additional Fee-For-Service Options:

  • Recognized motorcycle import consultants at preferred rates (MMIC will negotiate preferred rate);

  • Special MMIC show space discount rate (additional fee of $900 includes all 7 shows. Please note: to participate in MMIC Motorcycle and ATV Shows, the exhibitor must demonstrate product compliance with Transport Canada regulations and standards)

  • Rider safety and environmental awareness materials (fee based on amount required)

  • Other Services (fee based on cost of service)

Member fees are reviewed and approved each year by the Board of Directors during the budget process. The fiscal year of the MMIC is from January 1st to December 31st.
