March 2, 2016
Montreal, March 2 2016 – The 2016 edition of The Montreal Motorcycle Show, presented by La Capitale General Insurance, finished strong on Sunday, boasting a 1.7% increase in attendance and welcoming 34,000 visitors from across the province. “With close to 200 exhibitors, the Montreal Motorcycle Show is always a great get-together and celebration!” says Bianca Kennedy, Show Manager. “The Show is the first real indication that spring is on its way! It’s the perfect way to kick-off another great riding season. The countdown to March 15th – the first official riding day in Quebec – is now on!”
In addition to all the new 2016 models unveiled by the major manufacturers, a number of local builders were also on-hand, showing off their latest projects and designs. Their bobbers, cafe racers, choppers and vintage rebuilds definitely caught the crowds’ attention and brought a new wave of riders through the show’s doors. In total, over 500 vehicles were on display – no shortage of eye-candy for riders of all levels, styles and categories, and of course, all the latest gear, apparel and equipment to outfit riders from head to toe. The conferences hosted by Eric Menard, were well attended and the new motorized trials demos were a real crowd pleaser. Eye Ride, a virtual reality test ride at the BMW Motorrad booth, was also a very popular attraction.
With more and more women discovering the fun, excitement, freedom and camaraderie of riding, it’s no surprise that this year’s She Rides Nite was such a success. The highlight of the night was a ladies-only motorcycle draw for a 2016 Ninja 300, courtesy of Kawasaki Canada and Excel Moto. “Ladies Night is a celebration of women who ride, and the perfect opportunity for motorcycle-curious ladies to take the first step or the next step in their riding adventure” states Bianca Kennedy. “We are thrilled to see so many women embracing the sport.” More than 1000 women attended She Rides Nite – a 13% increase over last year!
As always, the Yamaha Riding Academy was also a popular activity for kids of all ages. More than 200 of the show’s pint-sized visitors got suited up in the latest motocross gear and took a few smile-inducing laps around the youth-friendly track.
